Outline of duties:
The Group Leader, Safety provides first-level leadership and establishes the day-to-day goals and objectives of SIA's Safety section.
This role is responsible for assisting in developing and implementing safety-related programs and processes meant to prevent injuries, fires, or other workplace accidents.
This role actively promotes workplace safety, listens/responds to safety concerns, and makes recommendations for improvement.
Oversee a team of Safety professionals responsible for conducting workplace safety audits and inspections that identify and address potential safety hazards.
Lead the creation and delivery of safety training programs to educate Associates on safe working practices, appropriate equipment operations, and emergency procedures.
Training includes, but is not limited to, Powered Material Handling Equipment and Crane, Lockout Tagout, Confined Space, Fire Prevention, Fire Extinguisher, Haz Comm/GHS, Emergency Response, Aerial Lift, OSHA 10 Hour, PPE, New Hire Orientation, other required OSHA Training Assess the impact of training programs on organizational safety or accident rates and recommends modifications to training curriculum.
Assist the Safety Section Manager in developing safety campaigns and other activities to eliminate workplace injuries.
Assist Section Managers in developing Injury Reduction Plans.
Investigate incidents or accidents and makes recommendations for improvement.
Oversee industrial hygiene sampling.
New equipment reviews, modification to equipment, review and evaluate any new construction to facilities.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in environmental safety, Occupational Health, relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education Experience with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and/or similar regulations Three years of relevant experience Excellent managerial skills Extensive knowledge of safety regulations and policies Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Proficient in technology and equipment used in inspections.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software Ability to foster teamwork and influence others.
