Principal
Responsibilities:
The Director of Catering and Events is responsible for the establishment of new relationships while maintaining existing relationships with corporate and social accounts while consistently striving to maximize revenue and promote relationships through effective negotiation of services, and assist in maintaining the daily operation of the Catering department.
Essential Functions:
Represents the hotel and conducts conferences with individual corporate customers by telephone or in-person to solicit catering business.
Meets with and entertains customers, conducts property tours, and promotes facilities and services.
Responds to customer inquiries and negotiate contracts with customers and vendors.
Assumes responsibility for the successful set-up and execution of social and corporate meetings, meals and special events.
Provides direction and supervision of meeting and/or catering logistics to affected departments and team members.
Develops customer menus, drafts contracts and letters, as well as organize all other arrangements as they relate to social and corporate events.
Prepares and presents Catering forecasts and reports as required.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
Audits customer checks and department charges and files to ensure accuracy.
Supervises staff in creation and distribution of accurate written materials.
Ensures that contracts, menus, letters and reports are completed according to hotel standards and policies.
Re-book functions and follow-up with customers by sending a thank you.
Compiles Food & Beverage reports on conventions.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

Must have extensive knowledge of Food & Beverage etiquette, guest relations and service standards Strong ability to read, write and speak the English language fluently to interact with customers Ability to analyze customer needs and negotiate pricing Basic mathematical skills to complete reports and working knowledge of financial statements and forecasting techniques Strong computer skills including Excel and Word Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods Interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction QUALIFYING STANDARDS:
Education High school graduate or equivalent required.
Four-year college degree preferred.
Additional advanced degree coursework in Business Administration, Marketing and Communications a plus.
Experience Two years combined prior catering and supervisory experience preferred.
Comparable hotel size and scope experience preferred.
Grooming All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
Other Additional language ability preferred.
