For one of our clients in manufacturing Industry, a Fortune 500 company, we are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to based in Lafayette, Indiana and will be responsible for helping to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
In addition, this person will apply their engineering knowledge and expertise to improve environmental operations at the plant.

Essential Functions:
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Assist in the management of all environmental issues, reports and permits as related to Air, Water & Wastewater, Storm Water, Residual Waste, TSCA, TRI, Tier II, Hazmat Reporting and the facility ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
This includes supporting permit applications and having responsibility for the timely and accurate filing of necessary records to demonstrate compliance with applicable federal, state, and corporate programs.
The Environmental Engineer may collect multimedia samples (waste, water, soil) for field and laboratory testing.
Interpret and record data, conduct analyses and compare findings to relevant studies and federal, state and local regulations to ensure compliance.
Support execution of management systems designed to ensure the plant is in compliance with all corporate, local, state, and federal environmental regulations and that continual improvement, pollution prevention, and compliance are a part of the plant s main goals.
Coordinate and manage all on-site hazardous materials (waste management and scrap management) as well as develop and maintain recycling programs.
This includes facility inspections, profiling/manifesting hazardous waste, interfacing with regulatory officials and completing/submitting regulatory reports.
Maintain all records and documents as necessary.
Drive environmental programs to align with corporate and business unit ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) goals and metrics Effectively support the integration of Human Performance principles and tools into environmental processes.
May perform compliance training for EPA, IDEM, HAZMAT, and other in-house subjects.
May perform hands-on environmental monitoring, measurements and inspections.
Assists in investigations of EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) incidents, root cause analysis, entry into incident data systems and item closure tracking REQUIRED SKILLS:
Ability to prioritize and complete multiple and diverse work assignments Well-developed verbal and written communication skills Leadership and communication skills to effectively work with internal and external customers across many organizational levels.
This includes shop floor employees and departments as well as regulatory agencies.
Strong computer literacy and project management skills Although the Environmental Engineer works primarily days (Mon to Fri), it is expected this person will work off-shifts and on-call as needed to support the function of this role.
Coaches and mentors departmental leadership in the execution of their EHS accountabilities.
Takes appropriate action to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, the location s EHS policy and corporate Standards.
BASIC
Qualifications:
Bachelor s Degree in Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering OR Physical, Biological, or Chemical Sciences Minimum of three years experience facilitating and managing environmental programs Minimum of one year of environmental experience at an Industrial/Manufacturing facility PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Five (5)
years of Environmental Engineering experience at an Industrial/Manufacturing facility is strongly preferred Experience in ISO 14001:
2015 Certification ISO 14001:
