Seasonal Maintenance Assistant LOCATION:
McAllister Recreation Center HOURS:
Seasonal - Monday-Friday - 40 hours/week.
SALARY:
$12.
00/hour DESCRIPTION:
Incumbent assists in maintaining cleanliness and appearance of assigned buildings and grounds, including cleaning/sanitizing restrooms and replenishing supplies, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting offices, picking up litter, and emptying trash containers.
Performs landscape maintenance such as bed edging, mulching, trimming grass, pruning trees and shrubs, removing fallen tree limbs, shoveling/sweeping/blowing snow, spreading salt on walkways, planting, fertilizing and watering grass and plants.
Incumbent must operate various hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruners, pressure washer and gas blower.
Regularly checks and ensures proper maintenance of Department equipment and tools.
Keeps Department equipment and tools clean and report any repairs necessary.
Performs essential landscape maintenance such as upkeep of planters and planting beds, trim, prune, or deadhead flowers and clean flower beds, plant seeds, bulbs, shrubs, perennials, grasses, ground cover, or trees and apply mulch using appropriate tools.
Assists in maintaining facilities, including painting/patching walls, unclogging toilets, changing light bulbs, lubricating playground equipment, and repairing/replacing playground equipment and signs.
Completes work order forms, maintains daily operations check list and other records of work performed, materials and equipment used.
Attendance is an essential function of this position.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 16 years of age.
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Education and/or experience in maintenance and/or landscape and grounds preferred.
Certification or ability to be certified in CPR/First Aid.
Ability to operate various hand and power tools, such as hammers, screw drivers, wrenches, drill, pressure washer and gas blower.
Working knowledge of grounds maintenance and ability to properly operate various related tools and equipment, such as post hole digger, pruner, shovel, rake.
Ability to physically perform the essential duties of the position, including exerting sustained physical effort, bending, reaching, crouching/kneeling, standing/walking for long periods, sitting for long periods, climbing ladders, pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying objects weighing more than 50 pounds, handling/grasping/fingering objects, hearing sounds/communications, close and far vision.
Ability to follow and ensure compliance with all employer/department personnel policies and work rules, but not limited to attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.
Must maintain a positive professional appearance, demeanor and attitude, and work harmoniously with all contacts in an enthusiastic and cooperative manner.
Ability to understand and follow oral instructions and work with others in a team environment.
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, other City departments and the public including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
Incumbent maintains frequent contact with co- workers and occasionally with the public for purposes of exchanging information.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
